Apologies for a spelling mistake!!!

Some of you may have noticed there was a mistake in last weeks spellings!

rhinosaurus should be spelt rhinoceros.

The word will not be counted in this weeks spelling test. Could children please learn it again correctly ready for next weeks spelling test.

My apologies for not noticing this sooner!

Many thanks,

Mr Lewis

Numeracy Week beginning 19.04.10

This week we will be looking at multiplication and division facts. (e.g. 3x5=15 and 5x3=15 so 15÷3=5 or 15÷5=3). There is a useful program to download help teach you child these concepts:

Multiplication Array

Later in the week we shall be looking at time, specifically timing( e.g. how many times can a jump, write my name, write a letter in a minute). Don't forget to keep practising with the clock they made over Easter and to keep discussing time.

Also now may be a good time to revise the 2, 5 and 10 times tables to help with what children are doing in the classroom.

Many thanks,

Mr Lewis

Numeracy

This week in numeracy we will be looking at subraction using the word "difference".

This can be difference in measurement (e.g. compare two objects which is taller? What is the difference between them?)

Also the difference in numbers. ( I have 50p I spend 45p. How much change do I get? What is the difference between the two numbers?)

It is helpful to show difference between two numbers on a number line. You can make one yourself or an example can be found at:

http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/maths/docs/numbertrackto100.doc

Any questions please ask.

Many thanks
